Ampersand Public Advisors, LLC is a registered Municipal Advisor with the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB), MSRB Registration #K1337, and is registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in the same capacity. Ampersand Public Advisors, LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ampersand, Inc.
You can verify our registrations and file a complaint through the MSRB at msrb.org, including the MSRB’s Municipal Advisor Client Brochure, which describes the protections that apply to municipal entities and obligated persons when working with a registered Municipal Advisor.
Registration with the SEC as a Municipal Advisor does not imply a certain level of skill or training.
Ampersand Public Advisors, LLC is not a bank, credit union, or other depository institution. We do not accept deposits, do not hold client funds on our balance sheet, and are not FDIC- or NCUA-insured as an entity. We are a registered Municipal Advisor that acts as agent for our clients in placing deposits at insured financial institutions within the Ampersand partner network.
The banks and credit unions we partner with are regulated and insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) or the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). The FDIC deposit insurance limit is $250,000 per depositor, per ownership category, per insured bank. The NCUA deposit insurance limit is $250,000 per depositor, per ownership category, per insured credit union and is provided through the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF).
The AmpersandAlign® Deposit Program and Accounts are managed in a manner consistent with the regulatory rules governing “pass-through” deposit insurance. Coverage above standard limits is achieved by allocating client funds across multiple insured institutions, subject to standard limits, aggregation rules, and regulatory requirements — including conditions for pass-through coverage. Funds placed at a bank or credit union where the depositor already holds funds may not receive full FDIC or NCUA insurance coverage; depositors may elect to exclude specific institutions for this reason.
Beyond federal deposit insurance, deposit programs may include one or more of the following protection instruments where applicable and consistent with state law. These products are offered by the participating banks and credit unions in the Ampersand partner network — not by Ampersand Public Advisors. Ampersand Public Advisors administers their use on behalf of its clients, including coordination, monitoring and reporting.
Ampersand Public Advisors does not issue, guarantee or underwrite any of these instruments. Availability of each instrument varies by depositor, deposit size, participating institution, and applicable state statute governing the protection of public funds. Coverage amounts and instrument availability are not guaranteed.
Ampersand Public Advisors is compensated for services rendered under written engagement agreements with clients. In certain deposit-program relationships, Ampersand or its affiliates may also receive compensation from participating financial institutions for the services we provide to them. Any such compensation is disclosed to affected clients as required by our fiduciary duty and MSRB Rule G-42. Requests for a copy of our current Municipal Advisor Client Disclosure statement can be directed to info@public.trustampersand.com.
As a registered Municipal Advisor, Ampersand Public Advisors owes a fiduciary duty to municipal entities under Section 15B(c)(1) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and MSRB Rule G-42. This duty includes a duty of care and a duty of loyalty to the municipal entity clients we advise. Our fiduciary duty does not extend to “obligated persons” who have not engaged us in that capacity.
